“Although we know that the buildings, sidewalks, and sky continue beyond the edges of [the] urban landscape, the world of the photograph is contained within the frame. It is not a fragment of a larger world.” Stephen Shore, text from, The Nature of Photographs.
- In your words, what do you think this statement means, and do you agree with this statement?
In my own words, I think this statement means that although we know the sky, the sidewalk and the city go beyond the frame of a picture. When it is photographed, it is a world in itself and not part of a bigger world. The story stays inside the frame and everything around it no longer matters. I agree with this statement. I believe in this because a picture captures a small part of a place or an object, but it can tell a longer story than the whole object/place if it is captured properly. - How and Why did you choose photography?
I chose photography because it is a way for me to express my feeling and to capture real emotions. I also liked the idea of capturing moments that are never going to happen again. Lika a wedding for instance. “Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still”. I can not remember who said this, but it stuck with me. I also love creating connections with people and for me, there is no better way than doing it with my camera. I learned more about photography when I saw a wedding photographer at a family member’s wedding, he was everywhere at the same time, to me that was incredible. After seeing the pictures, I could not believe the beautiful and meaningful pictures he took. - What are you after (photography)?
I am not sure I fully understand this question, but if it is what are we after in photography well this is what I think I am after:
I want to make people smile, I want to be able to capture their raw emotion, their sadness, their happiness. The best and maybe the worst moment of their lives. I would like to transmit a message, something to make people think. In portrait photography as much as in still life photography. I would love to create something one day to show what we are doing to our planet (pollution on the ground and in the ocean ). It is very hard to pick only one thing. Almost impossible because I love fashion photography just as much as other types of work (wedding photography, still life, engaging etc) .
I do not know if my answer will be the same in a few years, I could say I am very ambitious and I want to do many projects al for different reasons.
